BySunny : Radish Balls

On Thurs, the ladies in the office was happily talking about the kueh made by our elders. One of my colleagues is telling us about this Radish Balls. It is a dish she always make for her family whenever she is free. It is quite interesting. Normally we eat pumpkin & yam cake in flat rectangle pieces but this kueh is make into balls. Last night, she actually went to buy the ingredient last night & made it for us. So I asked her how to make this Radish Balls. Personally, I find it very yummy & nice.

Ingredients
1) 1 Radish (Shredded & squeeze out the excess water)
2) 100g Minced Meat (Pork)
3) 50g Dried Shrimp (Soaked & Chopped)
4) 4 Tbsp of Tapioca Flour
5) 2 Tbsp of Corn Flour

Cooking
1)      Add 1 tbsp of Oil
2)      Stir Fried the Radish with Minced Meat & Chopped Dried Shrimp
3)      Add 1 tsp of Salt/light soya sauce & a few dashes of pepper
4)      Take the ingredients up when cooked & leave it to cool down
5)      Add 4 tbsp of Tapioca Flour & 2 tbsp of Corn Flour to mix with the stir fried ingredients after cooling down
6)      Shaped it as balls to steam
7)      Steam for 20mins
8)      Serve!

You can dip in chilli or tomato sauce you like.

  2. Yup. This is one of my favourite. Grandma used to make this often when she was still around. Luckily for me, my mom picked up the skills in making this. And each time i go home to mom's place, i nvr fail to ask her to make this for me. Its very tasty for a snack and i can nvr have enough of them. Dip them in chilli.. yummy. But our recipe differs from your's though. No minced meat in them, but with little bits of 'zhu you zha' (those bits of crispy fried lard, the type u can find in bak chor mee amd char kway teow?) But it still taste good without the lard pieces too. For health sake.
